- The Korg i-Series and X-Series AI▓ Voice Synthesis system..
-
- Basically the Korg AI▓ Voice Synthesis has been implemented on most of
- Korg's synthesizer products which characterises a distinctive Korg sound
- derived from the classic Korg M1.. Listen to most UK and US TV music and
- that's the distinctive Korg AI▓ sound.. Most Korg synths will play Standard
- MIDI Files (SMF)s using specific Korg voicings but as most are now General
- MIDI (GM) then if the (SMF) has been configured to transmit MIDI
- information as GM then the Korg synths will play in GM mode..
-
- With the Korg i-Series (i2,i3, i4S,i5M and i5S) models these Interactive
- models possess 4 Banks of voice instruments like so:-
-
- A01 - 064 GM set
- B65 - 128 GM Set
- C01 - 064 C Bank (Preset)
- D65 - 128 D bank (User)
- KITS = total of 8 Drum kits
- 6 are Preset (as GM) and 2 USER (as GM by default but are user
- configurable)
-
- For the most part, the i-Series C bank contains specific Korg voices which
- although similar in nature to the GM set are by far superior sound quality,
- the D Bank, being USER configurable, can contain whatever the user defines
- and this can be saved to a 720K MSDOS formatted floppy disk for retrieval
- together with STYLE, ARRANGEMENT, BACKING SEQUENCES. Standard MIDI Files
- (SMF) and SONG data..
-
- The Korg i-Series is able to swap songs with the Korg X-Series synths (X2,
- X3 and X3R) but is only able to load in the USER D Bank of 64 voices from
- the X-Series synths. Likewise, the X-series can only load the USER bank
- .PCG voices saved from the i-Series synths but does offer some
- compatibility, especially if the composers utilise the GM set as well..
- There will be some files on this CD-ROM which may play correctly via other
- Korg synth products such as:-
-
- Korg 03R/W
- Korg 05R/W
- Korg 01R/W
- Korg 01/WFD
- Korg 01/W
- Korg 01/W ProX
- Korg 01/W Pro
-
- Some experimentation with alternative voices may be required however, in
- order to obtain a likeness of Korg voicings used in the Music-X and
- Standard MIDI Files (SMF) on the MIDINET CD-ROM which have been originally
- configured for the Korg i-Series synths..
-

- capabale of reading and writing Standard MIDI Files (SMF), STYLE, PCG
- voice, Arrangement, Backing Sequence and i-Series/X-Series Song data.. The
- majority of the Music-X and Standard MIDI Files (SMF) stored on this CD-ROM
- were developed employing a Korg i3 Interactive Music Workstation together
- with computer based MIDI sequencing and editing software packages..
